Generic compact spaces

We shall present a procedure of constructing certain compact Hausdorff spaces as limits of ``random" inverse sequences. The spaces obtained by this way are self-similar in the sense that they have arbitrarily small pieces homeomorphic to the entire space. As one of the applications, we shall describe the well-known hereditarily indecomposable chainable continuum, the pseudo-arc.
