Session 36. Topology in Functional Analysis

Separable Banach spaces whose dual spaces are not analytic in the Mackey-star topology

Vicente Montesinos Santalucía, Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain
The talk is based on the joint work with Antonio J. Guirao
By using a result of R. B. Kirk in A note on the Mackey topology for \((C^b(X)^*, C^b(X))\), Pacific Journal of Mathematics, 45, 2 (1973), 543-554, we show that there are separable Banach spaces such that their dual spaces, endowed with the Mackey-star topology, are not analytic. This solves a question by J. Kąkol and M. López-Pellicer in On realcompact topological vector spaces, RACSAM 105 (2011), 39-70.
