Studying diophantine problems by the circle method is now a
well-established way of counting integral solutions to diophantine
equations. We will take this procedure one step further and give
estimates for the number of higher-dimensional solution spaces. As
it turns out, such problems possess an underlying structure that can
be successfully exploited, producing estimates stronger than what
had previously been expected.
