Two cycles generating symmetric and alternating groups |

The talk is based on the joint work with Grzegorz Gromadzki

We give some sufficient conditions for two cycles to generate the alternating or the symmetric group. The study of this classical problem is motivated by some questions concerning Riemann surfaces and their groups of automorphisms which are triangle groups.
